Job Description

The Southeast Alaska Conservation Council (www.seacc.org) is a nonprofit corporation that is seeking a partime bookkeeper that can step in, with minimal training, and take over the accounts payable/receivable and other general administrative office duties of the central office.  The position is under the general supervision of the Finance Manager and has responsibility for the following activities:

  • Receiving, recording, and paying all invoice billings received.
  • Receiving deposit information from the Membership Director and recording all receipts and monies received by SEACC.
  • Maintaining and keeping current the accounting & administrative filing system.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the processing and maintance of the payroll process.
  • Providing administrative support to the program staff as required.
  • Supporting the central office staff by answering the telephone, taking messages, and, as required, forwarding phone calls to the appropriate staff person.
  • Maintaining the security and protection of all confidential and sensitive information or data used and entrusted to SEACC.  This includes, but is not limited to requirements of State and Federal law, as well as confidentiality mandated by the SEACC Board of Director or the Executive Director.

The general duties described above for this position are not all-inclusive and extend to other general accounting and administrative duties that facilitate or result the enumerated duties.

Required Skills

  • General knowledge and aptitude for the basic bookkeeping duties, including education or work experience in the fundenmental accounting or bookkeeping skills and processes.
  • Education or work experience in general administrative office skills, including proper phone edicate, document and correspondence filing, and other essential skills required in providing staff office support.
  • A working knowledge of, or education and/or work experience in the use of PC based accounting systems such as Quickbooks.
  • A demonstrated knowledge and skill in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge and skills in the use and general user level maintenance of a desktop personal computer or laptop.
  • Ability to navigate and use internet based web services and websites.

Desired Skills

  • 3+ years of clerical administrative office experience supporting program staff.
  • A minimum of 1 year of general bookkeeping, record keeping, managing a check register, cash fund, or similar financial work experience and/or job duties.
